Amanda Lakin

Director, Softball Camp

A Rhode Island native, Amanda Lakin grew up in East Providence in a family deeply involved in local sports. Her introduction to the game began at Pierce Field, where she took ground balls alongside her brother, Andrew. What started as a friendly sibling competition quickly developed into a lifelong love for softball.

Amanda’s journey began in the Swansea Youth Girls Softball Program, and she later played her first travel ball season with Fire & Ice. She went on to compete with RI Thunder and the Swansea Mud Dogs before finishing her high school travel career back with Fire & Ice.

A 2005 graduate of East Providence High School, Amanda was a four-year varsity softball starter, earning All-Division, First Team, and Second Team All-State honors. Her talent and dedication led to a Division I scholarship at Drexel University, where she was a four-year member of the women’s softball team. Beyond the field, she was actively involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was elected by her peers to represent Drexel at the annual SAAC conference in North Carolina. Amanda completed her Master’s in Education at Rhode Island College.

Amanda’s coaching career began with the Fire & Ice organization, later expanding to individual pitching lessons at John Burke’s Baseball Academy and Bobby Rodericks’ Athlete Turned Champion facility. She also contributed to the East Providence High School and Martin Middle School softball programs.

She credits her pitching success to Mr. Don Silva, who taught her the fundamentals, and Mr. Bobby Oliver, who helped her refine the art of pitching. Her passion for the game and coaching stems from the support of her parents, Mark and Ann Shattuck, her brother Andrew, and the lasting influence of her late grandfather and uncle Jim
