Chess
Grades K-4

Moses Brown School is proud to offer our students the magic and joy of chess instruction from Chess Master Connections (CMC). CMC programs are dynamic, thoughtful and FUN! Learn life skills of winning and losing well, creating a plan and following it, and focusing on you and your opponent’s actions and the importance of creativity all masterfully imparted throughout their instruction.


Weird Nature Science
Grades K-2
$145 (includes materials)
Have you ever wanted to be a scientist? Or to increase your understanding of the natural world? Well, you’re in luck! In this class, we’ll be learning about physics and the natural world through fun, easy science experiments. We’ll learn about states of matter, the animal and plant kingdoms, and how things we interact with in our everyday lives really work. This is the perfect club if you love science or engineering or just want to get a little messy in afterschool.

 

Squash
Grades 3-4
$130
We are thrilled to be able to offer this fun sport for lower school students! Children are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, and non-marking footwear is a must. No other equipment is needed as rackets & eyewear will be provided. Coached by the team at PVD Squash, overseen by Arthur Gaskin, a multiple winner on the PSA-World Tour and 8-time Irish National Champion.

Deep Sea Treasure Hunters with Professor Gizmo and Annie
Grades K-4
$145 (includes materials)
Adopt a scuba diving stuffy from us, and dive down deep to explore the bottom of the sea! Make your stuffed explorer a scuba helmet and tank, flippers, and a mini submarine. Will they discover a sunken ship? Maybe a pirate’s treasure chest? Each student will keep all their creations and bring home their explorer buddy to continue the adventure!

 

Trendy Trinkets
Grades K-3

This course provides a space for budding designers and enthusiasts to explore their creativity. We aim to encourage students' expression through various mediums, allowing them to transform everyday materials into unique fashion pieces. From eye-catching earrings to playful hair accessories, our club offers an opportunity for students to explore the world of fashion in a lighthearted and enjoyable manner. And that's not all! Our club is a place for creativity and collaboration, where students can freely exchange ideas, share fashion tips, and support each other in bringing their visions to life.

 

 
Wednesday

Math Club
Grades K-1
No Cost
Math Club is a fun time to explore topics that are beyond what students usually learn about in their classroom. We will delve into topics like fractals and Fibonacci Numbers, play strategy games such as Set and Acuity, explore probability, discover the math in Origami, and challenge ourselves to improve our creative and flexible thinking skills. As happens every year, the weekly topics will grow and change with the interest and needs of the participants.

 

Storytelling & Play with Studio Playground
Grades K-4

Let’s laugh, sing, and make a beautiful ruckus! Join Studio Playground for an acting class that empowers students to develop confidence and find their voice within an ensemble. All classes begin with a group warm up and physical acting game as students learn the fundamental concepts of voice, body, and imagination.  Students explore elements of song, storytelling, clowning, and performance projects. Let’s find that delightful little sparkle of joy and learn to share it with an audience! Each session culminates in a brief performance for friends and family.

Design Squad

Come tinker and build with Lower School Science Teacher Elizabeth Grumbach in the science lab. We’ll design games and tackle fun challenges like building your own marble roller coaster or crash test car.

Epicurean Explorers
Grades 3-4

This course offers an exciting and interactive environment where lower school students can explore the joys of cooking and baking. From cookies to homemade jam, this club will  introduce young chefs to the world of culinary creativity. But it's not just about cooking! In addition to whipping up delicious treats, students will also have the opportunity to design their own packaging and labels for their culinary creations. This aspect of the club encourages artistic expression and adds a personal touch to each delicious treat. The goal is to inspire a love for cooking and creativity while empowering students to take pride in their creations.
