Chess

Moses Brown School is proud to offer our students the magic and joy of chess instruction from Chess Master Connections (CMC). CMC programs are dynamic, thoughtful and FUN! Learn life skills of winning and losing well, creating a plan and following it, and focusing on you and your opponent’s actions and the importance of creativity all masterfully imparted throughout their instruction.
Irish Dance

Get ready to jump, skip, and tap! Your child can explore the exciting world of Irish Dance with Meghan Kelly, the accomplished owner of The Kelly School of Irish Dance. Dancers will master the fundamentals, learning energetic beginner jigs and reels while building rhythm, coordination, and having an enormous amount of fun! No experience is necessary—just a readiness to move.

Gizmo's Games

Test your building and gaming skills in the "Gizmo Games Workshop!” We’ll use woodshop tools, paint, and lots of recycled parts to build a variety of games such as Pirate Skeeball, Skittles, and Tiki Ring Toss that you can bring home to challenge your friends and family!"
Mini Madness

Do you like Itty bitty cupcakes and teeny tiny tacos?
We’ll make little robot sculptures, pint-sized piñatas, and
tiny fairy houses. It’s all about being mini! We’ll work with polymer clay to create miniature artwork, adding in some scaled down painting, printing, and sculpture for a huge amount of fun!

Math Club
Grades K-1

Math Club is a fun time to explore topics that are beyond what students usually learn about in their classroom. We will delve into topics like fractals and Fibonacci Numbers, play strategy games such as Set and Acuity, explore probability, discover the math in Origami, and challenge ourselves to improve our creative and flexible thinking skills. As happens every year, the weekly topics will grow and change with the interest and needs of the participants.

MB Breakerspace
Grades 2-4

Perhaps you’ve heard of a makerspace, but how about a breakerspace? In this after-school club, we will break apart various things and explore how they are made, built, and constructed. We’ll take a close look inside such items as old electronics, busted machines, tattered furniture, broken-down small appliances, and anything else we can find that looks interesting. Then, we will figure out how we can use all the parts to build something entirely new! Please be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring your sense of curiosity to every session! Join art teacher Dominique Avila in an adventure exploring art! Give your child the gift of creativity and self-expression with our MB After 3 Little Artists course, specifically designed for nursery and pre-primary students.
This engaging, hands-on program encourages young children to explore the exciting world of art through playful, age-appropriate projects. We focus on the process of creation, not just the final product, fostering a love for art-making in a nurturing and fun environment.

Zentangling
Grades 2-4

What is Zentangling?
The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, and simple curves. It enables you to deliberately access a state of relaxed focus, wake up your imagination and express it creatively with confidence. This club will be filled with drawing, relaxation, and creation!
French
Grades 3-4

In Bienvenue les amis!, children actively engage with the French language through songs, nursery rhymes, simple children's books, and art. In this program, they will learn foundational vocabulary ranging from numbers, colors, telling time and days of the week, to family members, animals, and clothing. At the end of the program, they will be able to introduce themselves and talk about their likes and dislikes, but also be able to sing songs and recite simple poems by heart for long term memory retention of vocabulary and sentence structure.
Ceramics
Grades 2-4

Let’s get our hands messy! Students will explore hand-building in clay, learning to shape, sculpt, and decorate their own colorful masterpieces. By the end of the class, each student will have their own fired and finished ceramic art to take home.
Instructor: Katherine Frank: Katharine was born and raised in New York City where she worked as a full time lower school teacher after earning her BA at Connecticut College. This past May, she graduated with her MFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Kindness Crew

Pritika, the First Grade teacher is starting a new after-school club called Kindness Crew! This club is all about coming together to spread joy and kindness throughout our school and community. It’s a fun way for students to make a difference, connect with friends, and see how small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
