Monday:

Chess

Grades K-4

Moses Brown School is proud to offer our students the magic and joy of chess instruction from Chess Master Connections (CMC). CMC programs are dynamic, thoughtful and FUN! Learn life skills of winning and losing well, creating a plan and following it, and focusing on you and your opponent’s actions and the importance of creativity all masterfully imparted throughout their instruction.

 

Squash

Grades K-2

We are thrilled to be able to offer this fun sport for lower school students! Children are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, and non-marking footwear is a must. No other equipment is needed as rackets & eyewear will be provided. Coached by the team at PVD Squash, overseen by Arthur Gaskin, a multiple winner on the PSA-World Tour and 8-time Irish National Champion.

Professor Gizmo

Grades 2-4

$145 (includes materials)

A workshop for our youngest emerging engineers and budding scientists! Using common household objects, we'll design a mini race car, make puppets, mini catapults and so much more! We'll combine projects and demonstrations to have fun building while we learn about how things work.

 

Fashion, Fabric and Jewelry Design

Grades K-1

$145 (includes materials)

Stuffed animals on a fashion parade! Each young fashion designer will receive  their own stuffy to model their clothing creations. Print your own fabric and design outfits for your furry friend.  Work with oven bake clay, shrinkable plastic, and felting fibers to create jewelry for your stuffed buddy and hit the fashion runway! At the end of the session, each child will bring home their stuffed friend with a complete fashion wardrobe.

 

Cooking with Pritika

Grades 1-4

$145 (includes materials)

Join Pritika for another round of Cooking! We will laugh, get a little messy, and create something truly delicious together. 

 

Math Olympiad

Grade 4

No Cost

Math Olympiad is a national math problem solving contest for teams in grades 4 through 8.

The goals of the program are to: stimulate enthusiasm and a love for mathematics; introduce important mathematical concepts; teach major strategies for problem solving; develop mathematical flexibility in solving problems while fostering creativity and ingenuity; and strengthen mathematical intuition. This is a great way to introduce students to mathematics competition while experiencing the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges.

Wednesday

Save the Bay

Grades N/PP

This program teaches students about Narragansett Bay creatures through observation of live animals. Save The Bay educators will bring species for the class to study, along with other teaching tools. After an age-appropriate introduction to the Bay, students are introduced to the animals one at a time, with special attention paid to the unique adaptations and anatomy of each animal.

Math Club is a fun time to explore topics that are beyond what students usually learn about in their classroom. We will delve into topics like fractals and Fibonacci Numbers, play strategy games such as Set and Acuity, explore probability, discover the math in Origami, and challenge ourselves to improve our creative and flexible thinking skills. As happens every year, the weekly topics will grow and change with the interest and needs of the participants.

Snapology

Grades 2-4

We bet your child loves going to amusement parks to experience the variety of fast, dropping, and spinning rides, but have they ever thought about the science that goes into building those rides and the people who are responsible for designing them? In Snapology’s Amusement Park Engineering class, students will become engineers of their own amusement park rides and will

learn the core physics and engineering concepts used to make a ride thrilling!

Musical Storytelling 

Grades K-1

BOOM! WOOSH! BUZZ! 

Come join Logan Amaral in this exciting Musical Storytelling class! Students will learn how to interpret written words from their favorite books and translate those words into musical sounds. Students will practice some of the basic concepts of music theory and composition while playing a variety of instruments. There is a world of rhythmic possibilities and a wide spectrum of musical colors to explore, giving us the ability express our ideas and emotions beyond written/spoken language. Gardening with Joe and Becca

Grades 2-4

Cost $130

Do you like eating fresh picked veggies, dissecting flowers and investigating the habits of pollinators?  Do you like getting a little dirty, spending time outside, and learning more about how plants grow?  Come join Becca and Joe in the garden!  We'll harvest and taste vegetables as they ripen, do lots of fun garden tasks and spend time carefully investigating the complex ecosystem right in our backyard!

Irish Dance

Grades K-4

Learn Irish Dance after school at Moses Brown School. Classes will be taught by Meghan Kelly owner of The Kelly School of Irish Dance. Your dancer will learn beginner jigs and reels and prepare a dance to debut in March for St. Patrick's Day.
