Chess
Grades K-4

Moses Brown School is proud to offer our students the magic and joy of chess instruction from Chess Master Connections (CMC). CMC programs are dynamic, thoughtful and FUN! Learn life skills of winning and losing well, creating a plan and following it, and focusing on you and your opponent’s actions and the importance of creativity all masterfully imparted throughout their instruction.

 

Squash
Grades 3-4

We are thrilled to be able to offer this fun sport for lower school students! Children are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, and non-marking footwear is a must. No other equipment is needed as rackets & eyewear will be provided. Coached by the team at PVD Squash, overseen by Arthur Gaskin, a multiple winner on the PSA-World Tour and 8-time Irish National Champion.

 

Gardening
Grades 3-4

Do you like eating fresh picked veggies, dissecting flowers and investigating the habits of pollinators?  Do you like getting a little dirty, spending time outside, and learning more about how plants grow?   Join Gardening!

MB Breakerspace With Eric Drotch

Perhaps you’ve heard of a makerspace, but how about a breakerspace? In this after-school club, we will break apart various things and explore how they are made, built, and constructed. We’ll take a close look inside such items as old electronics, busted machines, tattered furniture, broken-down small appliances, and anything else we can find that looks interesting. Then, we will figure out how we can use all the parts to build something entirely new! Please be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring your sense of curiosity to every session!

 

Build An Enchanted Tower!(With Professor Gizmo)
Grades K-4
$150(includes materials)

Be part of our magical construction team and build an enchanted tower! Each camper will receive a small stuffed animal and design a magical wardrobe and accessories to complete their fantasy experience. Will your stuffy be a magical princess? A wizard? A gnome? Make capes, crowns, treasure, royal pets, spell books, wands and tower accessories to complete your stuffy’s world! Each builder will bring home their own stuffy and all their creations to continue the adventure.

 

 

Math Club
Grades K-1

Math Club is a fun time to explore topics that are beyond what students usually learn about in their classroom. We will delve into topics like fractals and Fibonacci Numbers, play strategy games such as Set and Acuity, explore probability, discover the math in Origami, and challenge ourselves to improve our creative and flexible thinking skills. As happens every year, the weekly topics will grow and change with the interest and needs of the participants.

Unlocking Innovation: Coding & STEAM Club with Erin Broderick

Join us for an exciting adventure where creativity meets technology! Our Coding & STEAM class invites young innovators to dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Through games, projects and collaborative challenges, students will explore the principles of coding, robotics and more. Whether they’re beginners or budding tech whizzes, kids will gain valuable skills while fostering teamwork and creativity. Get ready to unleash your imagination!


Cooking with Pritika

Join Pritika for another round of Cooking! We will laugh, get a little messy, and create something truly delicious together. 

 

Storybook Studio with Katie Nelson

Have you ever wanted to step inside the pages of a favorite book? In this creative after-school club, we’ll bring stories to life through snacks, art, and imagination. Each week, we’ll explore a "hidden gem" picture book and use it as a blueprint for adventure. We’ll assemble themed snacks like "splatter toast" and "fruit tacos," dive into an engaging read-aloud, and then turn the classroom into a studio to build everything from fire-breathing dragons to recycled robots. If you love to snack, listen, and create, join us as we turn the page on a new masterpiece every week!

Latin
Grades 3-4

Travel back in time this spring to learn about the Latin language and the ancient Roman world! In this journey, students will become "language detectives" as they decode Latin vocabulary and discover the hidden roots of the English language. But it’s not just about words—we’ll dive deep into the legendary world of gods and heroes through Roman mythology and explore what life was really like in the ancient world. Don’t miss this chance to bring the ancient world to life!

 

Backgammon with Eric Drotch
Grades 2-4

Backgammon is a board game that combines skill, luck, and complex decision-making. It is one of the oldest games in existence, alongside Go and Chess. Backgammon is easy to learn and doesn’t take long to master, but there are many factors and strategies to consider while playing. So…whether you are curious to learn this fun and strategic game, or if you have experience playing it, we’d love to see you in the Backgammon Club! (A $25 materials fee covers the cost of a backgammon set for each student, which they may keep.)

Irish Dance

Get ready to jump, skip, and tap! Your child can explore the exciting world of Irish Dance with Meghan Kelly, the accomplished owner of The Kelly School of Irish Dance. Dancers will master the fundamentals, learning energetic beginner jigs and reels while building rhythm, coordination, and having an enormous amount of fun! No experience is necessary—just a readiness to move.
